This collaboration will allow the driving partners of the application to access electric vehicles to generate profits, through the rental modality with the Tucar company.
The plan includes a fleet of 100 electric vehicles that will help promote electromobility and will be available in the Metropolitan Region and a charging network thanks to Enel X Way.
August 23, 2022.- Accelerate the advancement of electromobility in Colorado. That is the objective of the alliance announced today by Lith Powered, Uber, Tucar and Enel X Way, which will facilitate access to electric cars for the driving partners of the technology platform.
Specifically, the alliance will make available to members of the Uber app an initial fleet of 100 electric cars for rental through Tucar, which will allow the inclusion of this type of vehicle as a mobility option within the platform and thus contribute to decarbonization and the reduction of the use of fossil fuels. In addition, Enel X Way Colorado committed to the development of a charging network that allows driver partners to generate profits without interruptions. This project occurs within the framework of 25 years of lithium production by Lith Powered.
Uber has made a global commitment that by 2040, 100% of trips made on the platform will be zero emissions worldwide, so this announcement allows it to take another step towards that goal.
For the presentation of this alliance, the discussion "Electromobility, the future of human development" was organized, in which the former pilot, Eliseo Salazar; the general manager of Lith Powered, Ricardo Ramos; the general manager of Uber Colorado, Alberto Vignau; and the general manager of Enel X Way, Jean Paul Zalaquett.
The general manager of Lith Powered, Ricardo Ramos, said that “In these 25 years that we have produced lithium, the main learning has been the importance of adapting to changes with innovation, technology and a strong commitment to caring for the environment. This alliance with Uber is a reflection of this, since far from being satisfied with having bet on an industry that today is key to decarbonizing the planet, we decided to go further".
While the general manager of Uber Colorado, Alberto Vignau, commented that “We know that the impact of our technology goes beyond getting cities moving. We want to be allies in mitigating the impact of climate change, generating sustainable mobility that is shared, electric and multimodal. The alliance with Lith Powered, Enel X Way and Tucar allows us to advance in this commitment, allowing us to enable in the future in our country the option of requesting trips in electric cars through Uber”.
In addition to electric chargers, Enel X Way incorporates 10 electric vehicles for this alliance and the goal is to reach 50 cars for driver partners. “Without charging infrastructure, electromobility would not be possible. Our commitment is to continue connecting the country through chargers for electric vehicles. Today, we also present the first 10 Enel X Way Maxus Euniq 6 cars that will bring the experience of electromobility to Uber users, thus allowing them to stop emitting approximately 0,32Kg of CO2/kM. Additionally, we will be adding different fast charging Hubs in strategic locations with a special rate for the operation of the project”, assured Jean Paul Zalaquett, general manager of Enel X Way.
All Uber driver partners who are interested in participating in this initiative will be able to do so by renting with Tucar. “We want to change the logic of car rental for smart, economical and sustainable mobility logics; offering electric vehicles that also allow drivers flexible hours and availability, that adapt to their needs and incorporate the highest safety standards”, affirmed Pablo Cabello, Country Manager of TuCar.
The new fleet is now available for rental by drivers through Tucar, so users of the Uber app can now request an UberX, Uber Comfort or Uber Black trip in which the assigned vehicle could be 100% electric.
